CODING RESOURCES:
These are some of the really amazing tutorials I used to build this site. Please don't let my spaghetti code be indicative of their quality - these are great!
DIGITAL RESOURCES:
- Sprout Distro: An amazing library of independent zines for free. Covers topics such as self sufficiency, community leading, and emergency first aid.
- Riseup VPN: Free VPN for those who would like to be more privacy focused.
- Ellipsus Writing Software: Collaborative writing tool alternative to Google Docs.
- Proton: Privacy first email, file hosting, 2FA, and more!
- If You've Been Dogpiled: A resource for creatives who may be facing dogpiling, censorship via mass harassment, or cancellation.
- Faggot Games: An Urgent Warning: Written by Eclipse. A call to action for all game designers (and by extension, artists) who are queer and trans to create the media that appeals to them.
ART RESOURCES:
VIDEO ESSAYISTS I LOVE:
- Action Button Reviews: Ginormous, well-researched, well produced essays about game design. I highly recommend his Tokimeki Memorial video.
- Li Speaks: Explorations into 2000s web media and nostalgia. She is adorable and REALLY well researched!
- Philosophy Tube: Leftist video essays on art, politics, ethics, and philosophy. Her Twilight video is a great primer if you haven't watched her work before.
- Pint:A lallafell after my own heart. Amazingly edited videos going over MMO content. I especially like their FFXIV videos.
- Reject Convenience: Essayist focused on privacy, digital minimalism, and moving away from instant gratification. Beautiful videos and easy to approach language.
- Shanspeare: Perfectly researched and presented essays on feminmity, culture, and the internet.
- Shedding Starlight: Tehcnically a podcast and not a Video Essayist, but still worth your time. A deep dive into Kingdom Hearts lore in release order of the games.
- TheraminTrees: Esssayist exploring issues around abuse, manipulation, dogma and systems of undue influence. Highly recommend for all of my religious trauma besties out there.
